The Network Engineer is responsible for provide technical support to users and escalate complex problems as needed. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by supporting the MIDS Test and Engineering Team at NIWC Pacific. This position will directly impact the US Navy mission and operational readiness.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
Able to perform the following with supervision:
Assist with the installation and configuration of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve basic issues.
Support network security by implementing standard protocols and assisting in risk mitigation.
Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for team reference.
Provide technical support to users and escalate complex problems as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address network-related issues.
Maintain backups and support redundancy strategies.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents as assigned
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum of two (2) years and basic knowledge of:
Networking tools, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques
Firewall configuration and VPN setup
Troubleshooting
Networking protocols
Configuring and managing network devices
Network security implementations
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred (BS STEM Degree)
OS Certification Preferred
CompTIA Security+ Preferred
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Preferred
DoD 8140 Compliance Required

PAY RANGE
$100,000.00 to $ $125,000.00 annually, DOE
U.S. Citizenship is Required
SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
