Duties
Help
  • Identifies security education and training requirements and conducts an annual review using DOD and DISA policies. Uses matrices to illustrate the measurable results of the training and educational modules.
  • Plans, develops, performs program evaluations, and provides program oversight for security program areas (i.e. Security Education, Training and Awareness).
  • Reviews and interprets legislation, Executive Orders, national and Agency policy issuances to determine applicability and required implementation by Agency activities.
  • Advises Agency mangers on new developments and advances in security processes, methods, techniques, systems, and devices.
  • Provides advice and guidance to security specialists in supporting organizations on policy interpretation and application, resolution of problems and situations, and application of new techniques and systems.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • This is a designated drug testing position.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • This position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program.
Qualifications

Time in Grade:

For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience:

For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as Developing a security education, training, and awareness plan, OR managing programs and procedures for the performance of security functions such as Information Security (INFOSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Industrial Security, Anti-Terrorism Training, Physical Security, and Emergency Management or similar security functions/programs).

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level
