RC/WC-135 Flight Training Instructor Navigator

Location: Offutt AFB, NE

Minimum Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position necessitates an active U.S. Government Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens are not eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and illegal drug use.

As a RC/WC-135 Flight Training Instructor Navigator, you will be responsible for (attaining and maintaining qualification in RC/WC-135 aircraft while providing in-flight instruction for RC/WC-135 navigators students. This includes performing ground training duties in both the classroom, simulator, and inflight while supporting requirements for training courseware development.

Who You Are and What You Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation or other related field with applicable training and experience required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI.
  • Must complete a formal Criterion Referenced Instruction (CRI) course within six months after start of training as an instructor. Completion of the ACC Classroom Instructor Course or MAJCOM equivalent satisfies the CRI requirement.
  • Previous flight instructor experience in RC/WC-135 model in the last three years or qualified as a contract flight instructor pilot in any model aircraft listed above within the preceding year required.
  • Minimum of 1,500 flying hours in RC/WC-135 aircraft
  • Previous flight evaluator experience in RC/WC-135 aircraft
  • Previous experience with in-flight GPS and/or LN-20/120.
  • Minimum of 500 instructor flying hours in RC/WC-135 aircraft preferred.
  • Ability to attend and satisfy USAF ground training requirements required.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the medical standards and requirements of FAA Class II Airman Medical Certificate at all times.
  • Ability to pass and maintain FAA Class II Physical Examination annually as required.
  • Ability to travel to CONUS locations as needed.


What You Will Do:
  • Provide instruction for initial qualification/instructor upgrade/requalification navigator candidates in -135 OFTs and aircraft.
  • Instruct RC/WC-135 navigator/instructor navigator currency requirements and certifications.
  • Support RC/WC Flight Training Operations providing:
    • Flight/mission instruction to initial qualification navigators on RC/WC-135 aircraft.
    • Flight/mission instruction to RC/WC-135 qualified navigators upgrading to Instructor Navigator.
    • Mission planning and post-flight analysis/debriefs of all flight-related activities.
  • Prepare and instruct students to perform the scheduled event including assisting preparation of mission planning paperwork and completion of post mission paperwork.
  • Document students' training event completion/performance.
  • Critique students verbally on all errors committed during the course of the training.
  • Instruct students in techniques and corrective procedures to help students avoid repetition of errors.
  • Conduct a thorough event crew pre-brief and student pre-brief for all flight events IAW the approved training sortie pre-briefing guide to prepare students to perform the scheduled event.
  • Conduct a thorough event debrief for all training device events.
  • Evaluate students upon completion of the training program.
  • Develop, review, and respond to end-of-phase and end-of-course critiques of training device instruction.
  • Document the student's training event completion/performance as required.
  • Attend monthly safety meeting required for contract pilots and navigators and Quarterly Wing Safety Day meetings when requested.
  • Contract instructors will attend USAF provided ground training and maintain the currencies set forth in AFMAN 11-2RC-135 Vols. 1, 2 and 3 as required by their crew position.
