Network Engineer (Azure)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to support a large federal program responsible for maintaining enterprise hosting, network, security, and identity services. The Network Engineer will ensure stability, security, and performance across hybrid Azure and on-prem environments. This position will be onsite in Rockville, MD.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include:

• Provide 24x7x365 infrastructure operations support and participate in an on-call rotation

• Support hybrid environments across Azure cloud and on-prem datacenters

• Deliver Network, Security, DNS, DHCP, VOIP, Identity & Access Management, and Server Operations tasks as part of the team's Statement of Work

• Review and analyze monitoring tools to identify trends and proactively prevent service disruptions

• Recommend process improvements and cost-efficient enhancements for future projects

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software supporting enterprise IT infrastructure

• Provide operational support for Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus, VPN, PKI, and Citrix technologies

• Support patch management, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities

• Perform performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting across network infrastructure

• Respond to issues at Rockville or Sterling data centers as required

Required Qualifications for the Network Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (four additional years of experience may substitute for degree)

• 10+ years of related IT infrastructure or network engineering experience

• 6+ years of experience supporting hybrid Azure/on-prem hosting environments

• Hands-on experience with:

- Network Infrastructure Operations

- Azure Networking

- Administration and Patch Management

- Vulnerability Remediation

- Security Compliance

- Performance Monitoring and Tuning

- Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus

- Citrix

- VPN

- PKI

• Ability to support a 24x7x365 environment and serve in an on-call rotation

• Ability to respond onsite to Rockville or Sterling data centers

• Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and pass a government background investigation

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ServiceNow

• SolarWinds or similar monitoring platforms

• Out-of-Band (OOB) management

• LAN/WAN/MAN environments

• IPv6

• OSPF and BGP routing

• QoS configuration and troubleshooting
