Opportunity:

VSO is seeking an AWS DBA / Cloud DBA to assist in the operation and support of cloud-hosted data environments. This role focuses on maintaining database reliability, supporting data workflows, and contributing to the performance and availability of AWS-based systems. It's well suited for someone eager to build hands-on experience in cloud data engineering and database operations.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

• Assist with backup, restore, and recovery processes to ensure data protection and continuity
• Write and maintain automation and administrative scripts using Bash, Python, Perl, or similar tools
• Support and administer relational databases including Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or comparable platforms
• Monitor system health and database performance, participating in tuning and optimization efforts
• Work in Linux/UNIX environments to support day-to-day database and data platform operations
• Help develop, maintain, and support ETL workflows and data pipelines
• Contribute to data modeling efforts and maintain well-structured schemas
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to support cloud-based deployments
• Assist with database security practices, including access controls and compliance requirements
• Document processes, configurations, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing and continuity
• Bring a basic understanding of infrastructure and cloud concepts, with AWS experience preferred

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant, professional experience with being an AWS DBA or a Cloud DBA
• Must possess an active Secret clearance or above
• Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status.
