Duties
Help
  • Oversee proper function of outpatient pharmacy automation equipment and patient queuing management system to ensure maximum system availability.
  • Direct the daily technical work activities in the Inpatient area of the Pharmacy.
  • Identify discrepancies and prescribing errors and brings the to the attention of the pharmacist, nurse or prescribing physician.
  • Read, interpret and fill orders for oral and topical medications.
  • Make necessary calculations and adjustments to provide the ordered concentration of medication.
  • Answer routine inquiries on availability drugs, unit of use, drug interactions and compatibilities.
  • Review and prepare orders for sterile products, utilizing sterile technique and maintaining infection control procedures.
  • Oversee proper function of outpatient pharmacy automation equipment and patient queuing management system to ensure maximum system availability.
  • Responsible for supporting and participating in continuous improvement (Pl) processes commensurate with the position.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving and distributing prescription medication within the full scope of a pharmacy practice; advising new and/or existing staff on proper pharmacy policies and procedures; and packaging and labeling medications according to pharmacy standard operating procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

One full year of graduate-level education in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, or Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field of study, from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
