Job Description Summary:
The Director of Facilities leads a comprehensive program for all strategic and operational planning, plant engineering, and construction management at Draper's headquarters campus in Cambridge MA. The Director also oversees all building and grounds maintenance operations, custodial services, utility systems management and space planning. Draper's Cambridge property includes over one million square feet and is comprised of offices, complex laboratories, closed access facilities, clean room space and a one thousand car parking garage. The department includes more than twenty Facilities professionals and approximately fifty custodial staff.
Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
• Provides executive leadership and direction in all aspects of administering the Facilities Department, establishing and implementing short and long
term strategic organizational & operational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Acts as single point of contact for all facilities management services issues in their area of responsibility.
• Responds to problems and concerns; implements policy, rules, and regulations.
• Leads on site facilities management operation teams in staffing, training, development, and performance.
• Develops and controls an annual facility budget, including direct and indirect contract service expenses, preventative maintenance costs, project
costs, rental expenses, energy management expenses and project/capital items.
• Plans and budgets for construction of new capital projects, space planning and assessing space utilization across the Laboratory.
• Establishes and reviews procedures to demonstrate performance is being consistently delivered.
Skills/Abilities
• Demonstrated leadership/management skills to deal with issues ranging from senior level to administrative to maintenance/engineering.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills with excellent MS Office Suite skills
• Ability to lead Change Management programs.
• Ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets.
• Demonstrable Health & Safety knowledge and/or experience.
• Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
• Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex business documents and can respond effectively to highly sensitive issues.
• Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, and top management.
• Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.
• Demonstrate an ability to solve complex problems and deliver a variety of options in complex situations
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities, Facilities Management, or equivalent through experience.
• Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
Experience
• A minimum of twenty years of professional experience and a thorough understanding of operational requirements for a working laboratory.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$180,000.00 - $340,000.00
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
