Help
Removes, installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, calibrates, and
rebuilds multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronicavionics
systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or
subassemblies. Advises engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed Time
Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) and/or modifications on new or existing equipment. Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures following established safety rules and regulations
to maintain a safe and clean work area. Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training. Complies with required instruction,
guidance and/or training and provides instruction, guidance and training to others while maintaining personal qualifications.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE FAMILY. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the work of an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC with little or no supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, navigation, or automatic landing control systems; of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, fiber-optic, and mechanical systems; of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, equipment cooling, and of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and trigonometric functions to adapt standard function to the specific requirements of the integrated systems.
2. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi component assemblies and devices. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work.
3. Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete integrated systems to recognize the function and interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting
cable/fiber-optics harness; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic integrated systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques and procedures utilizing a variety of test devices and ability to analyze, modify, and repair complex electrical or environmental systems and components on assigned aircraft. Ability to use a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment.
5. Skill in calibrating and adjusting components such as amplifiers, proximity boxes, generators, and voltage regulators. Ability to interpret and comply with regulations and instructions on security, safety, documentation, and other publications governing the performance of duties.
6. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade. Ability to effectively communicate with workers and supervisors in English using both oral and written reports. Basic computer skills are required. Individual must be able to access and use computer based maintenance documentation and supply systems, and be capable of assimilating training on new systems as they are developed and implemented.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
