Engineering Drafter Level 3
Mid-Senior Level | Colorado Springs, CO | Active DoD Secret Clearance Required
Document, define, and protect the configuration baseline behind mission-critical radar systems-where precision drafting directly supports national defense.

A Day in the Life - What You'll Do
  • Create, maintain, and release engineering drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation for radar systems
  • Review layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with standards
  • Identify design errors or omissions and recommend corrective improvements to engineering teams
  • Support configuration control and baseline management across the product lifecycle
  • Maintain technical data within Production Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support system design, integration, and sustainment
  • Present technical designs and documentation clearly to internal stakeholders and external customers


Required Qualifications
Citizenship & Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience
  • OR Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
  • OR PhD with 1+ years of experience
CAD / CAM & Configuration Experience
  • Experience using 3D CAD modeling tools such as NX, Creo, and/or SolidWorks
  • Experience generating engineering drawings compliant with ASME standards
  • Experience creating indented parts lists and managing drawing tree levels of indenture
  • Experience establishing and maintaining system configuration baselines
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and GD&T
PLM & Engineering Support
  • Experience using PLM tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, or ARAS
  • Ability to support small engineering teams with task coordination and schedule execution
  • Ability to work directly with program management and customers to manage scope and priorities
Professional Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage both micro-level detail and system-level context
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical designs clearly
Travel
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%


Preferred Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
  • Experience using Siemens Teamcenter for product and CAD data management
  • Experience supporting drawings and specifications across the full product development lifecycle
  • Experience with design verification and verification reporting
  • Experience designing mechanical hardware interfaces (e.g., mounting brackets)
  • Experience with cable management and cable assemblies for RF and fiber optic systems
  • Experience integrating mechanical and electrical instrumentation, including sensor checkout
  • Knowledge of test design and execution
  • Experience in a government contracting environment
  • Experience supporting USAF or DoD radar systems
  • Familiarity with USAF Technical Orders
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or DevOps environments
