Computer System Architect (Principal / Sr. Principal)
Principal-Sr. Principal Level | Colorado Springs, CO | Active DoD Secret Clearance Required
Architect, integrate, and sustain the computing backbone behind one of the nation's most advanced deep-space radar systems-where enterprise Linux, HPC, and mission reliability converge.

A Day in the Life - What You'll Do
  • Architect, design, and maintain multi-user computing environments supporting development and mission operations
  • Coordinate closely with network administrators, software engineers, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams
  • Evaluate vendor technologies and recommend hardware and software acquisitions
  • Develop and enforce policies and standards governing allocation and use of computing resources
  • Provision administrator and service accounts, tune system performance, and manage storage allocation
  • Install, upgrade, patch, and monitor system-wide software to ensure reliability and security
  • Implement and manage HPE High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters
  • Diagnose system issues, execute corrective actions, and support continuous operational stability
  • Communicate technical recommendations and system status to leadership and stakeholders


Required Qualifications
Citizenship & Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application
Education & Experience
Principal / Level III
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience
  • OR Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
  • OR PhD with 1+ year of experience
Sr. Principal / Level IV
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience
  • OR Master's degree with 6+ years of experience
  • OR PhD with 4+ years of experience
Technical & Architectural Expertise
  • Ability to apply strategic vision and architectural principles across enterprise computer systems
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 environments
  • Experience with Ansible automation
  • Experience with Red Hat Identity Manager (IDM)
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server configuration and management
  • Experience with virtualization technologies
  • Experience testing new product releases to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact
Certifications
  • IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE)
Travel
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (CONUS and/or OCONUS)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI
  • Experience managing HPE High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters (e.g., HPE CM)
  • Experience with VMware Tanzu Kubernetes
  • Experience with MPI implementations (IntelMPI, OpenMPI, MPICH)
  • Experience with InfiniBand networks and protocols
  • Experience with NVIDIA CUDA libraries and GPU environments
  • Experience with job schedulers such as Slurm or PBS
  • Experience with global and parallel file systems (e.g., GPFS)
  • Experience with Data Diode or Cross Domain Solution (CDS) technologies
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Experience with Cameo or similar Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
