Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Data Engineer/Data Engineer. This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems sector in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Product Support Organization supporting our Product Support Analytics and Innovation team.
The selected candidate will be responsible for creating custom, high-performance ETL pipelines from the ground up, taming complex data sources that range from structured text to esoteric third-party binary formats. This statement of work will involve deep data modeling, abstracting reusable patterns, and writing modular, maintainable. Python code that stands the test of time.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering and has chosen to apply those skills to data. A belief that data pipelines are software and should be built with the same level of care, testing, and architectural foresight as any other production application.

Primary Level Salary Range: $76,200.00 - $114,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Develop and optimize data storage solutions, including relational and NoSQL databases.

- Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver robust, integrated solutions.
- Champion software engineering best practices within the data domain, including comprehensive unit/integration testing, CI/CD automation (Git, Docker), and robust documentation.
- Tune and optimize complex SQL queries and data processing workflows within our on-premise infrastructure.

- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git, Docker, etc.).
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Preferred Qualifications
- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
- Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
- Recent professional experience in software development and/or data engineering.
- Experience with C/C++.
