Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions tailored to critical challenges in immigration enforcement, border security, and federal law enforcement.
- Build ML models and AI algorithms for analyzing, predicting, and improving operational outcomes related to immigration enforcement data, border security trends, and crime datasets.
- Design and optimize scalable, AI-integrated software architectures capable of processing and analyzing large datasets associated with federal law enforcement and homeland security operations.
- Enhance existing systems with AI/ML-driven features such as fraud detection, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and optimization of operational workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and federal stakeholders, to translate mission requirements into actionable AI/ML designs and software solutions.
- Test, evaluate, and deploy AI/ML models within secure environments, ensuring compliance with mission goals and data governance requirements specific to DHS systems.
- Create and integrate APIs and data pipelines to connect AI/ML solutions to operational systems, allowing seamless use by federal agencies like ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Leverage innovations in natural language processing (NLP), image recognition, and predictive analytics to address unique challenges in border security, criminal investigations, and immigration case management.
- Document technical workflows and develop user guides, system specifications, and maintenance plans for delivered solutions.
- Research and adopt the latest advancements in machine learning, computer vision, and cloud platform solutions to modernize operational capabilities across DHS systems.
- Actively participate in the entire solution lifecycle, from prototyping and validation to deployment and long-term system optimization.
Minimum Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to pass DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance and maintain suitability for Public Trust.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field, along with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong programming skills, specifically in designing, implementing, and deploying AI/ML solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, including knowledge of AI/ML libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
- Experience with developing and optimizing machine learning models, including knowledge of statistical methods and predictive analytics.
- Working knowledge of federal systems and datasets, especially those related to DHS, ICE, or CBP operations.
- Familiarity with data preprocessing tools, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
- Proven ability to debug, test, and deploy robust software applications in operational settings.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility for occasional travel to meet mission requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DHS Public Trust clearance or similar federal security clearance.
- Master's or advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Direct experience with ICE systems, immigration enforcement platforms, or federal law enforcement databases.
- Expertise in developing solutions for federal datasets, such as biometric records, border logs, or criminal investigations.
- Specific experience in applying AI/ML solutions for homeland security use cases, such as detecting human trafficking, optimizing border surveillance, and improving immigration case processing.
- Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP) for analyzing and synthesizing data from immigration or criminal records.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for developing secure, scalable AI/ML solutions for federal agencies.
- Familiarity with big data processing tools, such as Hadoop or Spark, especially for large-scale systems in law enforcement and immigration operations.
- Prior experience with DevOps pipelines for CI/CD in machine learning application deployment contexts.
