Support at-sea defense operations by maintaining and securing mission-critical communication and network systems.
A Day in the Life - What You'll Do
• Provide on-call engineering services to include maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and installation of hardware and software systems.
• Support 24/7 operations at sea and at least 10 hours/day in port, ensuring continuous operation of data networks, sonar, navigation, and other mission systems.
• Operate aboard T-AGOS class vessels for 6-month deployments, performing dockside and at-sea troubleshooting and supporting critical missions.
• Conduct configuration updates, retrofit efforts, and system documentation for accurate reporting and audit readiness.
• Deliver hands-on training to crew members in equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
• Maintain and troubleshoot digital computers, microprocessors, secure communication systems, and distributed networked systems.
• Participate in pre-deployment training and onboarding (1 week in Virginia Beach prior to departure).
Required Qualifications
• Active Secret security clearance and valid U.S. passport
• Associate degree in Computer Science or equivalent OR completion of U.S. Navy electronics C School with emphasis in
• Secure communication systems
• Navigation systems
• Sonar surveillance systems: 3 years of hands-on experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting:
• Data networks, digital computers, distributed data systems, microprocessors
• Willingness to deploy aboard T-AGOS vessels for extended 6-month overseas missions. Experience supporting:
• Network automation solutions
• Operating systems, virtualization, networking and storage templates
• Hardware repairs, connectivity diagnostics, ticketing/tracking systems
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification standards (or 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree if certified)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with advanced COMMs subsystems, including but not limited to:
• SHF, UHF SATCOM and LOS, HF, IFF, SECURE VOICE & DATA CRYPTOS, SIPRNET, NIPRNET, EKMS, KMI, CMS, NOW, ADNS/CFC
• 2+ years managing and maintaining Windows and UNIX-based systems. Familiarity with:
• ISNS, CENTRIXS, SCI Navy networks
• Cisco routing, switching, server configuration, and management
• UNIX/LINUX processing systems
• Navy cybersecurity tools, appliances, and software suites
• Ability to support mission preparation, port operations, and extended sea deployments
