The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.
We have an immediate need for a Software Engineer to provide onsite support out of Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
The DARPA Information Technology Office (I20) is looking for a Software Engineer who can investigate, design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions ranging in size from simple scripting to complex multi-system client-server solutions. The candidate will develop technical designs and specifications for complex software solutions. Will also research and develop system architectures, design strategies, product specifications, development schedules, and user expectations into product design documents.

Qualifications
Required:
- 8+ years of related work experience.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Master's degree or higher (additional years of relevant experience may be substituted) in STEM, Computer Science, Software Development, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field of study.
- Able to convert customer requirements including symbolic statements, work processes, and desired output into abstractions that can be implemented into logical code, user interfaces, and data visualizations.
- Able to use software development technologies and tools to build and maintain product modules, components and subsystems; follows best practices for software development.
- Able to verify accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample test data, conducting program tests, analyzing results and debugging.
- Able to report to a designated work location, up to full-time, based upon the needs of the client.
- Understands multiple computer programming paradigms and has familiarity with a variety of programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, Java, SQL, etc.).
- Superior interpersonal, organizational, written, verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Able to effectively manage time and collaborate across a diverse set of group/division priorities.
- Recognized expert at developing briefs and reports for project leadership team review.
