Mechanical Technician

Amentum is looking for a qualified Mechanical Technician to join our team, specializing in the installation of piping, ductwork, and fan coil units for HVAC systems. The successful candidate will have experience in working with chillers, condensate drains, diffusers, and flex duct insulation. This position involves precise execution and in-depth knowledge of industry best practices to ensure the highest quality in mechanical system installations. Additionally, we seek individuals who are open to traveling consistently for work, as the role may require assignments in various locations.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position must possess a TS-level security clearance and demonstrate expertise in security project protocols. Prior experience working OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) is essential, ensuring the candidate is adept at managing projects in diverse and secured environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install piping for chillers, condensate drains, and other HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications.

• Assemble, align, and secure ductwork, including flex ducts, diffusers, and duct insulation.

• Install fan coil units and ensure proper connections for optimal performance.

• Measure, cut, and fit pipes and ducts efficiently while adhering to provided blueprints and schematics.

• Utilize tools and machinery to shape, cut, and fabricate material as required.

• Inspect work for accuracy and compliance with safety and industry standards.

• Collaborate with project teams to meet deadlines and ensure smooth operation throughout the installation process.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience in piping and duct installation, including flex ducts and insulated pipework.

• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including chillers and fan coil units.

• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

• Skilled in using a variety of hand tools and power tools relevant to pipe and duct fitting.

• Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering precise and high-quality work.

• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance with industry regulations.

Sprinkler System Installation

Assemble and install fire sprinkler systems in line with safety regulations and building codes, working closely with project teams to ensure dependable fire suppression solutions.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in HVAC or mechanical systems is preferred.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in piping and ductwork installation roles is highly desirable.
