The Industrial Engineering Intern will support the Industrial Engineering team in analyzing, designing, and improving manufacturing processes. The intern will work on real world projects, gaining hands on experience with lean principles, data analysis, and process optimization in a world-class final assembly manufacturing facility.
Primary Responsibilities - Complete a series of projects that apply the analytical and problem solving skills acquired in Industrial Engineering coursework. Work closely with production personnel and cross functional teams to uncover process constraints and drive actionable change. This role includes assisting with time study and work measurement activities and analyzing production data using Excel, Tableau, SQL, or Python to identify variability, bottlenecks, and risk factors that substantiate improvement opportunities. Apply lean tools to move from problem identification through root cause analysis, develop countermeasure solutions, and verify results. Design, build, and maintain dashboards and performance reports that visualize key metrics, continuously refining reporting tools to enhance data visibility for stakeholders. Prepare clear, concise project updates, technical documentation, and presentation decks tailored for cross functional audiences.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related discipline
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis and lean manufacturing concepts
Desired Skills:
• Practical work experience including prior internship or co-op experience
• Experience with data analysis tools (eg. SQL, Excel Macros, Python)
• Experience with Discrete Event Simulation (eg. Simio) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Grafana).
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
