Position Overview
Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX Corporation, is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support mission-critical systems within a secure, onsite facility in Richardson, TX. This role is central to maintaining the performance, integrity, and security of complex database environments that directly support high-impact aerospace and defense programs.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and related database technologies, along with experience supporting enterprise tools such as the Atlassian Suite, Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE, SolidWorks, and GitLab. A strong background in database architecture, optimization, and secure system administration is essential. While a formal degree is preferred, equivalent hands-on experience is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability, scalable database systems.
• Administer and optimize SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other database environments.
• Manage data storage, indexing, and retrieval strategies for performance and reliability.
• Support and integrate databases used by Atlassian Suite, Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE, SolidWorks, and GitLab.
• Conduct database tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery procedures.
• Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards within classified environments.
• Collaborate with development and engineering teams on schema design, query optimization, and automation.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret Clearance (must be valid on Day 1).
• CompTIA Security+ Certification.
• 8+ years of professional DBA experience with strong proficiency in SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and system performance tuning.
• Experience managing database security and compliance within secure or classified environments.
• Demonstrated ability to support complex, large-scale database ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience supporting database components related to Atlassian Suite, Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE, SolidWorks, and GitLab.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with underlying database technologies used by the above tools.
• Experience working within classified, defense, or aerospace environments.
• Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Knowledge of cloud-based or hybrid database solutions.
