CSCI seeks a highly skilled, experienced Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator (RHEL) to provide enterprise-level administration, security, and support for classified mission-critical Linux environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, demonstrated success in architecting and managing secure infrastructure, and the ability to ensure compliance with stringent government and DoD/DON cybersecurity standards. This position requires a proven leader with the ability to guide technical teams, collaborate with program managers, and deliver innovative solutions within classified environments.

This position is on-site, Monday-Friday. The primary worksite is at JBAB.

Responsibilities

As one of the contributing team members, the Senior RHEL Administrator primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Administer, configure, secure, and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems across physical and virtual environments.
  • Perform system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation in alignment with DISA STIGs, DoD RMF, and US CYBERCOM directives.
  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available and resilient RHEL infrastructures supporting mission-critical workloads.
  • Manage authentication, authorization, and access control with LDAP, Active Directory integration, and Kerberos.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system, application, and network issues.
  • Support containerization (Docker, Podman) and virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
  • Automate tasks and workflows using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with security policies, audits, and incident response.
  • Document system architecture, procedures, and change management processes.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide technical leadership within the team.
  • In-depth knowledge of system hardening, auditing, and compliance frameworks (DISA STIGs, NIST, RMF).
  • Strong background in scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl).
  • Experience supporting classified government or defense programs.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.


Skills - Minimum of 12 Years Experience

Required Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, math, or equivalent experience.
  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility Full-Scope Polygraph.
  • 12+ years of experience in Linux system administration, with at least 10 years specializing in RHEL.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise RHEL environments, including clustering, storage, networking, and virtualization.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible or equivalent automation/configuration management tools.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack) in secure contexts.
  • Experience with Gitlab, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, Jfrog, Artifactory, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to instruct and mentor less knowledgeable audiences.
  • Ability to creatively approach and solve situations.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be willing to actively communicate with co-workers, program leadership, and clients, which may involve delivering presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership or team lead experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD tools.
  • Master Degree preferred.
Experience Levels:
LEVEL1 - requires a minimum of 3 years related experience
LEVEL2- requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.
LEVEL 3 - requires a minimum of 8 years related experience.
LEVEL 4 - requires a minimum of 10 years related experience.
LEVEL 5 - requires a minimum of 12 years related experience.
LEVEL 6 - requires a minimum of 15 years related experience.
LEVEL 7 - requires a minimum of 20 years related experience.

Applicants are required to have, at a minimum, a TOP SECRET (TS) clearances with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility with Full Scope Poly based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years.

Compensation
Compensation at CSCI is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of CSCI's total compensation package.
Salary Range
$160,000 - $215,000 /Yr.
