Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to become a part of our team. The selected candidate will be part of the team that is the primary technical resource for a customer in software development expertise. The team builds hands-on experience with the customer's in-development software with the objective of helping the customer understand what they are acquiring and identify opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate will be able to understand the customer's vision and evaluate the software system's capacity to meet the customer's requirements.

The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems Division delivers mission-critical solutions, specializing in cyber operations, information architecture, strategic deterrence, and ISR. Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field (must be completed within 6 months from date posted)
  • 6+ months of full- or part-time software engineering, system design, development, deployment, and testing experience
  • No more than 5 years of relevant experience
  • Software engineering skills in C++, Java, Python, web development, and/or scripting
  • Familiarity with principles of software system design, development, deployment, and testing
  • Familiarity with software development processes, including revision control, peer reviews, and documentation standards
  • Ability to assist Program Managers, customers, and other system stakeholders as part of a software applications and solutions technical team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond resourcefully to new demands or challenges
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a US citizen and have an active Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to travel as needed; nominal max is one 3-day trip every other month
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Academic or part-time experience working on a software development team
  • Comfortable with using the Atlassian suite, including Confluence and Jira
  • Comfortable using version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment
  • Experience with the Agile development framework

  • $69,000 - $94,000
    • Salary commensurate based on education and relevant experience
