We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer who is eager to grow, learn, and make an impact while building real-world software solutions. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys working primarily on the back end while also contributing to front-end development. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to turn concepts and prototype code into scalable, production-ready applications. If you’re ambitious, technically curious, and motivated to take ownership of your work in a remote environment, this is a great opportunity to accelerate your career.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs, primarily using Python
Translate engineering concepts and prototype code into clean, maintainable, production-ready solutions
Contribute to front-end development using modern frameworks (e.g., Angular), refining functionality and usability
Collaborate with other engineers to improve code quality, performance, and scalability
Participate in code reviews and follow best practices for software development
Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications
Proactively identify work, improvements, and learning opportunities in a remote setting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
0–3 years of professional experience in software development (including internships or co-ops)
Strong foundation in Python and backend development concepts
Familiarity with front-end technologies and frameworks (Angular or similar)
Understanding of software development best practices (version control, testing, documentation)
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Qualifications
Experience with full-stack development (backend-heavy)
Exposure to UI/UX principles or interest in improving user-facing design
Experience working on distributed or remote teams
Familiarity with REST APIs, databases, or cloud-based environments
Strong curiosity, initiative, and a desire to continuously learn
Additional Details
Work Location: Fully remote (preference for candidates in the Mid-Atlantic or New England regions for occasional meetings, but not required)
Travel: Minimal; may include occasional onboarding or quarterly visits
Start Date: As soon as the right candidate is identified
