The individual selected for this position will support the customer's organization responsible for enterprise infrastructure networks in support of mission requirements. This includes providing strategic planning, requirements definition, architecture design for possible expansion, and governance, including acquisition strategy, operating procedures, and associated costs.
- Provide systems architecture support to the Sponsor component(s) to include, but is not limited to, conducting cost-benefit analysis and providing specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
- Assist in designing and planning network communications systems including specifications and detailed schematics for systems and network architectures.
- Work collaboratively with other groups in designing, configuring, and maintaining the information technology infrastructure associated with a cloud environment. This includes advising network users of hardware requirements and configuration limitations.
- Assist in development of documentation, to include architectural diagrams in support of mission-specific networks.
- Provide support to the Sponsor's Architecture Review Board.
- Provide knowledge and consultation to Sponsor components and assist in technical reviews and designs, assessment of technical solutions to business needs, and development of technical concepts of system operations for Sponsor components' requirements system designs, and system architectures.
- Provide network and systems architecture expertise and consultation to engineering components; assist in technical reviews and architecture designs; develop strategic direction, and assess technical solutions in support of initiatives and objectives
- Support the Customer in defining network architectures, illustrating and documenting new and existing networks; provide architectural guidelines with the appropriate level of abstraction for stakeholder engineering teams to design
- Identify gaps in capabilities and provide strategic teams with definition and document requirements and provide expert technical guidance
- Develop other architectural artifacts, drawings, diagrams, and concepts of operations, as required
- Demonstrated experience in Systems Architecture and Integration in secure environments that include hosting, desktop, video, virtual and proprietary mission networks
- Demonstrated experience in developing and communicating complex architecture strategy, plans, roadmaps, and drawings to a variety of technical, management, and policymakers to ensure clear communication of ideas and enable the Customer's decision process
- Demonstrated ability to create and sustain critical architecture, strategy, roadmap artifacts and the ability to effectively communicate the details of these materials both in written and verbal presentations
- Demonstrated understanding of USG network and systems capabilities, best practices, and policies/procedures - including cloud technology
- Ability to illustrate to complex technical audiences - e.g., Network Architectures, drawings, and leading whiteboard technical discussions
- Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Qualifications
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a scientific discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge of solutions to complex applications problems
- BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations
- Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise data strategy, data governance practices, data stewardship principles, data standards, and metadata management best practices
- Experience with successful full life-cycle software development projects
- Ability to translate requirements into end-to-end designs for systems that involve multiple interfaces and supporting data repositories; for example, this may include experience with Web Services, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), application integration technologies and approaches, Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing solutions and data management technologies (Extract-Transform-Load (ETL), Data Profiling, Data Mining, Metadata Repositories)
