This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical geospatial applications, collaborate closely with NGA stakeholders, and contribute to transformative cloud-based modernization initiatives that benefit mission partners and disadvantaged users globally.

Job Summary:
B&A is looking for a Cloud Engineering Specialist to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical geospatial applications, collaborate closely with NGA stakeholders, and contribute to transformative cloud-based modernization initiatives that benefit mission partners and disadvantaged users globally.
Responsibilities:
- Support the ongoing modernization of legacy raster map production systems into the GEOINT Core Services cloud environment (OpenShift).
- Develop, integrate, and enhance GOTS/COTS cloud microservices built with open-source libraries using Java, Python, and related technologies.
- Contribute to Agile-based development cycles, including sprint planning, feature development, testing, and deployment.
- Assist in migrating legacy workflows-such as CMPS, CADRG, and ECRG production-into modern cloud-native services.
- Implement advanced capabilities including:
- Computer vision and automated feature extraction
- Geo-registration and georeferencing techniques
- Format translation and raster data processing
- Interoperability across multi-system architectures
- Maintain and optimize a hybrid user experience supporting both cloud services and a thick client application for remote or disadvantaged users.
- Collaborate closely with NGA's Source and GEOINT Services Groups, ensuring alignment with mission needs and cloud architecture standards.
- Provide responsive support to resolve issues, develop new applications, and enhance overall workflow usability.
- Contribute to documentation, system upgrades, and ongoing cloud deployment activities to ensure long-term system reliability and Full Operational Capability (FOC).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in relevant roles.
Required Skills:
- Experience in cloud-native application development, preferably using OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, and modern software development frameworks.
- Background in microservices architecture and integration of GOTS/COTS components.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Understanding of geospatial data processing, raster formats, or geospatial production workflows (desired but not required).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate within a cross-functional engineering team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
