The System Administrator I will provide technical, programmatic, and logistical support to various information systems. Support includes conducting troubleshooting for various hardware and software components; providing recommendations for improvement of business processes, information systems, and documentation; and performing day-to-day administration of information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, install, maintain, upgrade, and patch software, hardware, and networks using customer processes, guidelines, and standards.
  • Resolve software, hardware, server, network, and other technical issues, including generating documentation for the detection and resolution of troubles and failures.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of hardware and software, including glitch detection, vulnerability assessment, and other issues.
  • Implement technical and non-technical security controls to protect and defend information and information systems-approved procedures.
  • Conduct installation and configuration of hardware and software according to approved procedures.
  • Provide logistical support, including conducting hardware and software inventory, facilitating the delivery of hardware and software, developing and delivering end-user training on the operation and use of information systems, and analyzing and reporting on trends in information system operation and utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration and lifecycle support of information systems, or equivalent military experience, is required
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems is required
  • Industry certification corresponding to Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II by DoD 8570.01-M/8140.03 within 90 days of hire is required
  • DoD Secret clearance required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have technical knowledge of a variety of operating systems, software applications, hardware components, and cybersecurity
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Red Hat operating systems, and/or Cisco IOS or IOS XE is highly desirable
  • Must be able to communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize tasking and coordinate changes to various information systems
  • Must be able to quickly adapt to changes in requirements
  • Experience with Red Hat operating systems is desirable
  • Experience with Cisco IOS or IOS XE is highly desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server is desirable
  • Experience in automating common administrative tasks is highly desirable
