Position Overview

The Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Analyst provides analytical support to U.S. Navy training, exercises, and operational assessments. This role supports the design, execution, reconstruction, and evaluation of complex ASW exercises involving surface ships, submarines, and aircraft. The analyst plays a key role in data collection, event reconstruction, technical analysis, and the development of formal analytical products used to inform fleet readiness, tactics, and future training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and support test and data collection plans for ASW exercises and events
  • Serve as lead observer and coordinator aboard exercise units, conducting real-time observation and data collection to support post-exercise reconstruction
  • Develop and manage exercise messages in support of operational scenarios
  • Reconstruct exercise events using collected data and validated methodologies
  • Analyze exercise results in accordance with approved Analysis Plans
  • Serve as primary author for analytical deliverables, including:
    • Reconstruction and Analysis Reports
    • Cross or Focused Studies
    • Annual and periodic analytical reports
  • Prepare and deliver technically accurate briefings, reports, and correspondence for government stakeholders
  • Assist with obtaining required security clearances and authorizations to install and operate analytical equipment aboard U.S. Navy ships and aircraft

Required Qualifications

Mid-level ASW Analysts must possess a minimum of three (3) of the following qualifications (which may be obtained concurrently):
  • Six (6) years of U.S. Navy experience related to ship, submarine, or aircraft operations and warfare tasks
  • Two (2) years of experience managing Undersea Warfare (USW) projects or programs
  • Experience using analytical software tools, such as MATLAB or statistical analysis software
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technically accurate briefings, reports, and formal correspondence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex operational data
  • Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS

Desired Attributes
  • Familiarity with ASW tactics, sensors, and operational concepts
  • Experience supporting fleet exercises, assessments, or training events
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in operational and shipboard environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple analytical tasks concurrently
