POSITION: Clothing Textile Analyst SME
LOCATION: Quantico, VA (On-Site – Marine Corps Systems Command)
STATUS: Full time – Contingent Hire
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Experience: 8–10+ years of relevant experience textile analysis, clothing design, materials testing, or certification support
• Must haves: Knowledge of military clothing systems, personal protective equipment (PPE), or tactical gear; experience analyzing products against military standards, specifications, and performance requirements; familiarity with textile performance testing methods (e.g., durability, comfort, environmental resistance).
• Citizenship and Clearance: U.S. Citizen with Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% to support client meetings and requirements
• Skills: Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office products; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong documentation and technical reporting skills, strong problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or with a team
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Client Familiarity: Experience supporting U.S. Marine Corps or DoD clothing and equipment programs; familiarity with MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO, or similar standards related to textiles and materials; experience with sustainable or advanced textile technologies; prior experience supporting test events or certification programs
• Tools Familiarity: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Support clothing certification analysis and design activities in accordance with program documentation, requirements, and design objectives
• Support the design of functional, durable, and innovative clothing components and gear that meet defined performance and operational requirements
• Collaborate with engineers, material scientists, and technical resources to identify and evaluate appropriate textiles, materials, and technologies
• Analyze and validate clothing and gear against applicable military standards, regulations, and specifications
• Support and oversee performance testing efforts, including durability, comfort, environmental resistance, and operational suitability testing
• Document safety, certification, and compliance results in accordance with program requirements
• Monitor and assess advancements in textile technologies, including sustainable and cost-effective materials that meet mission performance requirements
• Identify opportunities to enhance clothing functionality, efficiency, and lifecycle performance
• Prepare detailed technical reports, briefings, presentations, and recommendations for program stakeholders and leadership
• Maintain detailed records of testing activities, certification results, design revisions, and approval documentation
• Support oversight of test events and certification activities as required by the program
