Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect (26-020) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
C2BMC is a dynamic and growing program within the Missile Defense and Space sectors. It has a longstanding track record of providing solutions to the Missile Defense Agency and is currently under contract to develop further innovative solutions for both areas. The selected candidate will have the chance to work on C2BMC projects related to missile defense and space missions. They will be part of an integrated architecture and systems engineering team working on a multi-company program, tasked with defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture that aligns with the goals and capabilities of the ongoing C2BMC initiative. The role involves helping design missile defense command, control, and battle management systems using existing or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) components while ensuring DoD interoperability. Additionally, the candidate will analyze high-level requirements using a structured, logical approach.
Essential Functions:
• Creating System Architecture solutions and concepts for a variety of new and emerging capabilities for the C2BMC system in collaboration with other Architects, including the lead Systems Architect, software architects, network architects, and cyber architects.
• Communicates and collaborates with other teams, including software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps teams, infrastructure teams, test teams, and deployment teams, on System Architecture solutions. This includes both physical and logical architectures across the System
• Will interface with project leads, product owners, and the MDA customer
• The candidate will present architectural concepts to a wide variety of audiences and serve as the focal point for the System Architecture for the Capability, overseeing development, testing, and deployment efforts
• Will present at internal and external design reviews
• May assist in documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool such as CAMEO
• Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies and design methodologies in the areas of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology products
• Must have Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience as a desired skill, on a DoD Program
• Must have the desire to be a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD Program
• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to present technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers
Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 2 years of experience with C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control (C2) systems
- Experience in developing new concepts and solutions for System Architecture
- Information Technology / Computer Science / Software / Network-related work experience on an integrated team, collaborating with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions for a DoD Program
- Experience as a Technical Lead or Systems Engineering SME in Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domains
- Experience as part of a team that architected systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components, with DoD interoperability in mind
- Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
- Experience with identifying system capabilities, defining system capabilities, communicating the system capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users, and generating architecture artifacts to document and control the achievement of the system capabilities
- Experience developing system engineering and architecture artifacts (e.g., specifications, interface control documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, trade studies)
- Experience creating briefings, creating and reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
- Experience as a technical leader for a DoD Systems Engineering or Development effort
- Familiarity with Private Cloud solutions and IT technologies, including VMware/Nutanix, Red Hat, and network solutions

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
