Duties
Help
  • Serve as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner facilitating pharmaceutical care services and direct patient care programs within assigned service(s).
  • Ensure drug utilization activities are aligned with patient care needs, evidence-based best practices, and regulated standards.
  • Maintain collaborative and comprehensive medication therapy management clinics and services in designated areas of practice, under a scope of practice.
  • Deliver direct care to patients though a variety of modalities and ensure documentation for encounters and clinical decisions in the electronic health records.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, and other members of the healthcare team with the goal to educate, promote patient safety, and practice advancement.
  • Review electronic medical records to monitor for drug therapy, including evaluation for adverse drug reactions, drug-drug and drug food interactions, disease due to iatrogenic cause, medication therapy duplication, or unnecessary polypharmacy.
  • Identify high-risk patients and implement interventions to improve quality and safety.
  • Perform drug usage evaluations, quality assurance/ performance improvement activities as required.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination unless exempted by professional medical personnel or for administrative reasons.
  • This position requires screening for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity regardless of job series. This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires uncommon tours of duty hours working either fixed or rotating shifts, on an "on-call" basis, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Exemption: You are exempted from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Specialized Experience Required: Must have at least one or more full years of professional pharmacy experience which includes dispensing medication, compounding prescribed drugs/pharmaceuticals, and counseling patients regarding their prescribed medication.

This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade of GS-11 in the federal service.

Education
