Duties
Help
  • Develop policies to provide guidance to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) clinical personnel.
  • Advise on all matters related to respiratory care training to ensure effective guidance and leadership.
  • Plan, research, develop and review the course curriculum to envelop new concepts and technology in military respiratory therapy.
  • Develop and coordinate the agenda for the curriculum committee and student evaluation plan meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory care to ensure the Respiratory Therapy Program Course stays nationally accredited.
  • Coordinate nationwide licensure requirements for program graduates and document their approval and eligibility for each state.
  • Develop goals and establish standards to support the national essentials of respiratory therapy.
  • Oversee the design and structure of clinical rotations and student placements schedules to support effective evaluation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes assisting in the implementation of formal Respiratory Therapy training programs, aiding with curriculum development, reviewing program accreditation activities, and providing policy guidance to leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
