Overview
Provide day-to-day administration and Tier 2–3 troubleshooting for Cisco network infrastructure in a DoD environment (SIPR/NIPR). Execute routine to moderately complex changes, support upgrades/cutovers, and maintain documentation and compliance within secure/offline operating constraints.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and support Cisco LAN/MAN/WAN networks in SIPR/NIPR environments.
• Troubleshoot Tier 2–3 issues (routing/switching, VLANs/trunking, VPN connectivity, interface errors, basic QoS); drive incidents to closure.
• Implement standard and moderately complex changes (ports/VLANs, configuration updates, access control changes) in accordance with change management.
• Monitor network performance/availability; analyze alerts, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support upgrades, migrations, integrations, and conversions/cutovers, including planning inputs, testing, and validation.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors; collect/interpret logs and diagnostics to support resolution.
• Maintain network documentation (diagrams, baselines, runbooks/SOPs) and keep records current.
• Partner with cybersecurity/systems teams on device authentication, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to priority incidents as required.
Required Qualifications
• Active Secret Clearance; ability to work onsite in Alexandria, VA as needed (Hybrid) in SIPR/NIPR and SCIF environments.
• High School diploma or equivalent (Associate/Bachelor’s in IT-related field preferred).
• 3–5 years hands-on network administration experience, including Cisco routing and switching in enterprise or DoD environments.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, trunking, and basic routing concepts; familiarity with OSPF/BGP preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills and ability to communicate clearly with customers and stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with monitoring/troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Cisco tools).
• Experience supporting offline/air-gapped environments.
• Exposure to firewalls and security controls (ACLs; Cisco ASA/Palo Alto/Fortinet a plus).
• QoS/VoIP familiarity a plus.
• Certifications: CCNA strongly preferred; CCNP a plus.
