BOAB Ventures is seeking a Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to support a government Sponsor conducting strategic research and development. This role focuses on the evaluation, system design, software engineering, and transition of research-grade, primarily open-source algorithms and software prototypes into a secure Sponsor and Partner Cloud Environment for operational deployment.
The selected candidate will play a critical role in validating, hardening, packaging, and transitioning advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning solutions both within the Sponsor organization and to external mission partners.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and verify research-grade software prototypes and algorithms
Design and implement systems to transition prototypes into a secure cloud deployment environment
Engineer and package software solutions for deployment across Sponsor and Partner infrastructures
Develop and conduct independent testing and evaluation methodologies to assess algorithm performance
Optimize models and algorithms for memory, compute, and operational efficiency
Integrate and leverage internally hosted data science tools
Document results and provide technical guidance to downstream users and partners
Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and mission stakeholders across multiple domains
Required Skills & Experience
Demonstrated experience with Python, JavaScript, and R
Experience employing machine learning and deep learning frameworks, including:
Pandas
Scikit-learn
TensorFlow
PyTorch
Strong background in statistical inference, predictive modeling, and machine learning methods
Experience performing large-scale text analytics
Experience with Linux system administration and scripting (e.g., Bash)
Experience developing or interfacing with Android systems
Experience working with embedded systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi)
Highly Desired Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Experience developing, deploying, and testing:
Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
Large Language Models (LLMs)
Foundational models
Experience creating testing and verification frameworks to evaluate and improve algorithm performance
