EDB Postgres Database Administrator (Hybrid Schedule)

• Radford, VA (Onsite 2-days per week minimum)

Required Certifications:
• CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent DoD 8140 foundational)
• EDB Postgres Database certification (for example, EDB Postgres Essentials, EDB Postgres Advanced, EDB Postgres Distributed Essentials)

Job Responsibilities:
• This database administrative position will challenge the candidate to expand his/her skillsets and learn new technologies in a fast-paced and friendly environment. The successful candidate remains up to date on vendor technologies and recommended best practices in a highly available, enterprise environment. The successful candidate for this position will be solid in EDB Postgres and familiar with MySQL and Oracle.

• This position typically works 40 hours per week with a blend of onsite and telework. Currently, onsite work is required 2 days a week and telework is 3 days a week.

Required Skills:
• Five or more years of experience (including design, installation, configuration, administration, upgrades, tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting) with EDB Postgres in a Unix/Oracle Enterprise Linux environment on virtual servers; similar skills are desired for MySQL and Oracle
• Experience with EDB Postgres 14.19 or higher
• Experience utilizing DoD and commercial certificates (rather than self-signed certificates) for logins
• Experience with PEM (Postgres Enterprise Manager)
• Experience using Ora2pg to migrate Oracle databases to EDB Postgres
• Strong backup and recovery experience using Barman (Backup and Recovery Manager)
• Strong performance tuning experience for both transactional and analytical workloads
• Strong troubleshooting experience utilizing database and operating system capabilities
• Strong shell scripting experience in PL/pgSQL
• Strong bash shell scripting experience in Unix/Oracle Enterprise Linux
• Strong system administration experience
• Strong documentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Participation in a 24x7 on-call support rotation


Preferred Skills:
• Databases: EDB Postgres 14.19 or higher, MySQL 8 or higher, Oracle 19c or higher
• EDB Postgres replication experience
• Experience with Kerberos
• Experience with Apache Tomcat
• Shell scripting experience in MySQL, and Oracle PL/SQL
• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG)
• Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL
• Azure Database for PostgreSQL





• This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/SCI) or the ability to be obtain an (Interim Secret, Interim Top Secret)
• Because an active or interim DoD clearance is required, U.S. Citizenship is required
