Overview

The Engineering Technician IV provides professional technical support to engineers engaged in research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. This position involves practical, hands-on tasks related to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components and equipment.

Responsibilities

Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project; selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts; contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work; reviews, analyzes and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or technical engineer outlines objectives, requirements and design approaches. The government will review completed work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Perform one (1) or a combination of such typical duties as:
    • Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment; conduct tests or experiments; analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance; and report results.
    • Develop designs from general guidelines and specifications ( e.g., size or weight requirements), for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems; select from several possible design layouts; calculate design data; and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
    • Plan (or assist in planning) tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conduct tests using all types of instruments; analyze and evaluate test results; and prepare reports on findings and recommendations.
    • Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications

    • Associate degree program from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school.
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience.
    • This position requires the submission of a DNA sample, which will be stored in the government-managed DNA Sample-Employee Database to ensure it is excluded from CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).
    • Secret Clearance is required.
    • Due to the nature of work performed at the client's facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
    • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
    • Ability to document calibration results and interpret technical data.
    • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
