Details of Electrical Engineer Manager responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineering Manager 1 will support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing program activities across various active projects / programs.
The work is unique, challenging and rewarding. Most of all, it is work that makes a difference.
The functional manager will lead a team working within the Chantilly E&S department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees to accomplish organizational goals, deliver program results, and align with company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and compensation, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary. The manager is responsible for periodic review, update, and definition of technical process documents
The manager will be expected to provide and perform electrical engineering design and technical support. It is anticipated that given the size of the functional team, the split between technical and functional management duties will be on average approximately 20% functional / 80% technical on SIDE OU systems, representing our E&S organization within the OU. The direct program support may include technical activities such as IPT leadership and/or any other appropriate technical function.
Functional management responsibilities include staffing support/allocation, performance and compensation management, and career goals development.
The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, quick response, work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple teams across all technical levels. The candidate must be able to lead the way to maintain and develop creative solutions to complex problems. This position requires daily onsite work in Chantilly, VA

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments / roadblock resolution, and the overall engineering / product quality execution.
- Partnering with the program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resources management targets.
- Providing technical leadership to the execution team to ensure that best practices as well as the applicable electrical engineering processes and procedures are fully and adequately implemented.
- Supporting the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement.
- Supporting the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world class execution teams.

Basic Qualifications for Electrical Engineering Manager 1
- Candidate must be a US Citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of experience within a related engineering field.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse multi-disciplinary team with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, MIL-STD, ASME) and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and technical specifications.
- • Demonstrated technical and people leadership of diverse and inclusive teams.
Preferred Qualifications for Electrical Engineering Manager 1:
- Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering with 3+ years within a related engineering field.
- Broad ISR mission area experience.
- Experience managing engineering teams of 6 or more.
- Experience with schematic design tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Zuken, etc.)
- Knowledge and familiarity with Windows and Linux Operating Systems, specifically the ability to execute in command line and rapidly navigate both operating systems
- • A background in test, design, and integration
- Proficient with RF test equipment
- The ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and environmental testing requirements for military grade electronics.
- Full life cycle design, implementation, and feature/automated testing of software.
- Must have at least 80% coverage on a program in the SIDE OU.
- Active US citizen with a U.S. government security clearance.
