Janus Research Group, the prime contractor for the PM C2 Transport contract, is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) C2 Transport Engineer to oversee tactical network engineering projects within a Digital Engineering Lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This role involves managing the design, configuration, testing, and integration of tactical network solutions for DOD systems in a controlled lab environment. The PM C2 Transport Engineer will lead lab-based network simulations, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure mission-critical systems meet operational requirements before deployment.

As part of Janus Research Group's team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that network systems are tested for performance, security, and resilience, while also meeting DOD standards. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to manage and validate advanced network solutions supporting critical defense operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and management of tactical network engineering projects within the Digital Engineering Lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Oversee all phases of network testing, configuration, and integration, ensuring projects meet objectives, timelines, and budget requirements.
  • Network Design & Integration in Lab Environment: Design and implement tactical network solutions in the lab to simulate real-world conditions. Ensure network configurations are secure, scalable, and resilient for testing and validation of DOD systems.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with network engineers, digital engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and systems integrators to configure and test network systems in the lab environment.
  • Testing & Validation: Supervise the testing and validation of network solutions, ensuring they meet DOD operational performance and cybersecurity requirements. Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements to optimize network performance.
  • Cybersecurity Compliance: Ensure all network designs and configurations comply with DOD cybersecurity standards, including NIST, FISMA, and other security protocols. Implement and enforce best practices in securing sensitive data and systems.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of network configurations, test plans, results, and project progress. Provide regular updates to Janus leadership, customers, and stakeholders on project status, risks, and achievements.
  • Risk Management & Problem Resolution: Identify and mitigate project risks early in the testing phase. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues quickly and effectively during the testing and configuration phases.
  • Customer Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for Janus Research Group and DOD stakeholders. Ensure project milestones, goals, and requirements are met, while maintaining clear communication and managing expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leverage feedback from testing to improve network configurations and lab processes. Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices to enhance network engineering solutions.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, Scrum Master, or similar) is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven experience supporting DOD contracts, particularly in tactical network and digital engineering environments.
  • Hands-on experience with network design, configuration, and integration within lab-based environments to simulate operational scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of network security protocols (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption) and cybersecurity requirements for DOD systems.
  • Experience managing lab-based projects, including configuring and troubleshooting test networks in support of system validation and operational performance.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering tools, such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) platforms and simulation systems.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Project Management: Proven ability to lead and manage tactical network engineering projects, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and project tracking in a lab environment.
  • Lab-Based Network Engineering: Expertise in the setup, testing, and management of lab-based network infrastructures to simulate and validate network performance under realistic conditions.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of tactical networks, routing/switching protocols, and network security principles, with experience in lab testing and troubleshooting.
