The Public Sector Senior Manager is responsible for supporting business development, practice development, and client project delivery activities.
Job Duties:
- Client Delivery:
- Supports day-to-day client delivery and relationships with peer-level client
- Documents and tests financial reporting processes and internal controls
- Ensures quality of work performed by staff and Senior Associates
- Provides financial statement audit support as needed by the client
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Supports solution development with guidance from Public Sector Practice leadership
- Prepares client interview guides
- Supports client interviews
- Prepares presentations and briefs, in addition to drafts and final reports
- Supports client meetings and other project management requirements
- Practice Development:
- Supports recruiting efforts by identifying potential candidates and participating in interviews
- Business Development:
- Supports proposal development process with guidance from Public Sector Practice leadership
- Researches and identifies contract opportunities
- Researches industry and market trends
- Supports preparation presentations and briefs, as well as position papers with guidance from Federal Practice leadership
- Attends business development meetings and supports all follow-up actions, as needed
- Actively networks professionally outside of BDO (whether through mixers, professional and industry-specific associations, community service activities, referrals, or other mechanisms)
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises Public Sector direct reports
- Evaluates the performance of Public Sector direct reports and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development for all Public Sector staff
- Collaborates with Office Business Line Leaders and Human Resources to interview, hire and terminate employees
- Acts as mentor/career advisor to Public Sector management and staff as appropriate
- Provides professional growth and career advancement opportunities for Public Sector management and staff
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited United States college or university in Accounting, Information Technology, or Business Management, required
- Master's degree in Accounting, Information Technology, Business Management, or related field, preferred
Experience:
- Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive relevant experience supporting DoD clients, required
- Experience with federal accounting, financial management, audit readiness, audit facilitation, defense business system/ERPs, and/or defense data analysis, required
- Experience applying technical expertise and skills to implement business solutions, required
- Design, implementation and management of business operations, improvements, or strategy projects, required
- Knowledge of the strategic planning process, required
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, direction at the program level, required
- Experience with DoD financial statement audits, internal control testing or analysis, and/or coordinating with external auditors, preferred
- Experience with Financial Improvement and Audit Sustainment, the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL), FASAB, CFO Act, FMFIA, FFMIA, ICOFR, GAGAS (Yellow Book), GAO Green Book, OMB Circulars, and COSO Framework, preferred
License(s)/Certification(s):
- CPA or similar professional certification, preferred (e.g., CISA, CIA, CGFM, CDFM, or PMP)

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent leadership skills
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a public trust or above security clearance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation aptitude
- Advanced knowledge and experience with development, management and execution of sales processes including lead generation, pipeline management, accounting planning and sales strategies
- Strong business acumen and ability to effectively communicate BDO's business, marketplace, and value proposition
- Ability to provide business development consultation to partners and managers in pursuit of accomplishing business results
- Ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment while handling multiple projects simultaneously and managing a diverse staff to accomplish desired results
- Able to successfully negotiate contracts while meeting all government regulations
