Machinist

Piper Companies is looking for a Machinist to join a government contractor in Adelphi, MD. This role requires the candidate to report onsite and have an active Secret Clearance

Essential Duties of theMachinist:

• Fabricate and/or modify many unique and precision items in support of the program
• Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents
• Performs technician work of broad scope and complexity requiring the ability to interpret, select, adapt, and apply many guidelines, precedents and engineering principles and practices which relate to the area of specialization
• Work requires practical knowledge of scientific and engineering principles, design characteristics, maintenance requirements, troubleshooting techniques, laboratory processes, and the peculiarities of various equipment and devices used

Qualifications of theMachinist:

• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years related professional experience required
• Demonstrate the ability to proficiently generate machine codes from the sketches/drawings to operate the Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) mill and lathe to manufacture parts
• Experience with MasterCAM/SolidCAM Software and programming CNC machines
• Proficient in use of HAAS milling and lathe machines, with minimal to no assistance
• General knowledge and experience in welding are a plus, but not required
• Active Secret security clearance required

Compensation for theMachinist:

• $65,000 - $75,000 (based on experience)
