About The Role

Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Russian Linguist & Cultural Advisor (CULAD) for an assignment in Jordan.
  • Location: Camp Xiphos, Jordan (Secure U.S. Military Compound)
  • Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Assignment: Unaccompanied, 12-month contract (extendable)
    • Schedule: Shift work may be required
About the Role:
  • Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Russian Linguist & Cultural Advisor (CULAD) to support a major U.S. Government program in the Middle East. This position requires deep expertise in Russian geopolitical influence, cultural dynamics, and regional ethnic landscapes. You will provide advanced linguistic support, cultural analysis, and strategic insights to senior DoD and military leadership.
  • This is a mission-critical role supporting real-time media monitoring, intelligence analysis, and cross-cultural advisement within a secure U.S. military environment.
What You'll Do:

Linguistic & Cultural Expertise:
  • Provide SME-level insight on Russian religious, ethnic, and cultural groups, including moderate influencers.
  • Deliver accurate translation, interpretation, transcription, transliteration, and DOCEX support.
  • Ensure cultural nuance, intent, and context are preserved in all linguistic products.
  • Prepare command-level information papers and research products in native Russian.
Geopolitical & Media Analysis:
  • Monitor global and regional media sources to identify trends, behaviors, and emerging developments.
  • Produce media synopses, geopolitical assessments, and predictive recommendations.
  • Advise DoD/MIL leadership on social media influence operations, doctrine, and strategic communication opportunities.
  • Analyze data for coded patterns across a wide range of subjects.
Mission & Engagement Support:
  • Support key leader engagement events in Qatar and other partner locations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop communication and support plans.
  • Track industry and technology trends across traditional, digital, and social media.
  • Work extended hours as required by mission tempo.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Political Science, International Studies, Anthropology, Communications, or related field
    • 9+ years of Cultural Advisor/Linguist experience OR Master's degree with 7+ years of related experience OR Additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 5 years supporting U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Government agencies
  • Language proficiency:
    • English: 4/4/4 or higher
    • Russian: 5/5/5
  • Demonstrated ability to provide objective, unbiased cultural advisement
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable with small and large groups
  • Deep understanding of cultural nuances across Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Valid U.S. Passport (not expiring within 1 year)
  • Fully eligible for Jordanian visa
  • Active DoD TS with SCI eligibility
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Native Russian or Tajik heritage
  • Expertise in Tajik tribal, religious, and ethnic dynamics
  • Experience with Information Operations (IO) or MISO units
  • Prior DoD media monitoring or research experience

Details

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
