Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Weekend Shift Flight Operations 3 (Mechanic) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our E-2D Flight Operations Organization. This position will be located in Saint Augustine, Florida.

This position will be supporting our 3/12 Weekend shift.

In this role, you will be performing a combination of responsibilities consisting of complex mechanical duties in all fields of specialization for the flight line, including but not limited to power plant, run-in plumbing, hydraulics, rigging & controls, and structures & surfaces on the complete airplane. You will be operating aircraft power plants and ground equipment during acceptance checks, troubleshooting and routine maintenance of aircraft. You will be required to maintain a full practical knowledge of certified aircraft and ground support systems such as controls, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, fire control, and armament components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing mechanical and operational duties for pre-flight and post-flight inspections as well as in preparation of customer acceptance of completed airplanes.
  • Disassembling, repairing, replacing, rechecking, testing, re-rigging, servicing, and re-installing of components & systems as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and/or defects and schedule/modify maintenance procedures.
  • Full knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  • Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
  • May assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of lower-level employees.
  • Duties & tasks are varied and moderately complex. Resolves most questions and problems and refers complex questions to higher levels.
  • Errors may be difficult to detect and would normally result in loss of customer business, material, or equipment to resolve.
  • Contacts are infrequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations and are in regard to matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature.
  • Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations
  • Work and communicate over ambient noise
  • Work in a variety of work spaces/positions. Work spaces may include but are not limited to small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, ascending/descending ladders, and/or working overhead.
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts as needed by the business.
  • Ability to work on top of and around the airplane utilizing safety lanyards (SRLs), and working in confined spaces, including working in and around fuel tanks.

We are looking for self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented people to help us in the integration and testing of the E-2D aircraft for the US Navy and other Customers. This position will be for the Weekend shift, with a 3/12 work schedule Friday to Sunday 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, and every Monday to Thursday off.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent AND minimum of 4 years of relevant flight line experience in aerospace or military environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting E-2 aircraft.
  • Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead.
  • Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
  • The ability to work any work schedule.
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance required to apply, last investigated within the last 5 1/2 years.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • E-2D Aircraft Experience
  • Engine Run Qualified, or previously Qualified.
  • Experience working on an active Flight Line
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of MES (Maintenance Executing System) and CATS (Payroll & Timekeeping)

Primary Level Salary Range: $57,500.00 - $95,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
