Machinist

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking Machinist in Adelphi, MD. The Machinistwill fabricate and modify precision components to support ARL programs, working with CNC and manual machines to produce high-tolerance parts. This role requires strong technical skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently on complex assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Fabricate and/or modify unique precision items for ARL programs.
• Generate machine codes from sketches/drawings to operate CNC mills and lathes.
• Perform manual machining prototype work and minor welding (TIG, stick, oxyacetylene).
• Apply engineering principles to adapt equipment and techniques for custom solutions.
• Hold close tolerances of ±.005" minimum and up to ±.0001" for high-level fabrications.
• Plan project scope with supervisors/customers, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
• Prepare cost estimates and ensure data accuracy.
• Work independently with minimal supervision; keep supervisors informed of progress.
• Maintain records of engineering data such as tests and drawings.
• Utilize government tooling and equipment (manual and CNC) on-site.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in CNC machining and manual machining.
• Experience with CNC mills and lathes using G-Code.
• Skilled in MasterCAM/SolidCAM software for CNC programming.
• Proficient with HAAS milling and lathe machines.
• Strong shop math skills.
• Ability to work from verbal and written instructions.
• General welding knowledge (preferred but not required).

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.

• Valid driver's license required for positions involving travel.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range $65,000 - $72,000 (Depending on Experience).
