Duties

(1) Serves as the expert intelligence analyst for the group and squadron commanders and staff. Classifies research and performs analysis of intelligence information regarding hostile military, terrorist, or other threats. Collects, analyzes, evaluates and interprets intelligence data to recommend realistic threat countermeasures. Researches and analyzes adversarial countries and organizations and their methods of engagement. Coordinates with air and ground commanders to ensure team members have necessary intelligence updates and products to prepare for and conduct worldwide deployments. Assists in the request process to provide real-time tactical or national strategic assets or Requests for Information (RFI). Assists in monitoring activities during operations and ensures appropriate final, after-action, and other reports are accurately completed following combat actions. Ensures intelligence products are adequately protected and have proper classification markings before, during, and after an assessment or other event.

(2) Support provided includes operating in Joint and Coalition military environments to meet dynamic intelligence requirements. Must be able to operate with intelligence communities of other Coalition nations in support of campaign planning and execution. Operates alone and independently as representative of USAF intelligence capabilities in Joint and Coalition campaign planning and execution staffs. Nature of work performed by incumbent mandates zero error tolerance due to the real time, dynamic, hostile fire environment in which campaign is executed. Reports and briefings provided to high-ranking combatant commanders are critical to campaign Course of Action (COA) selections.

(3) Coordinates with Staff Judge Advocate to ensure mission activities do not violate Rules Of Engagement (ROE) or other intelligence oversight rules.

(4) Incumbent provides estimates of adversary courses of action, capabilities and intentions. Utilizes intelligence techniques and products to develop threat briefings, enemy order of battle, and enemy Course of Action (COA) within a specifically defined area of responsibility.

(5) Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of intelligence data. Provides liaison function to supported ground maneuver staffs and serves as the air power and Intelligence/Surveillance/Reconnaissance (ISR) advocate within assigned area of responsibility.

(6) Information collected and disseminated directly affects security of forces and mission success. Incumbent prepares, plans, and manages the intelligence awareness/training of group and squadron personnel to include threat and current intelligence briefings. Ensures plans are complete to include preparation of both pre-planned and immediate ISR and Non-Traditional ISR (NTISR) requests. Prepares and presents briefings throughout the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and during campaign execution.

(7) Using a variety of intelligence sources, analyzes data collected during various types of scenarios, applies applicable security policies, standards, and guidelines, and assists in the preparation of force protection recommendations. Data collected is collated into threat assessments and intelligence summaries.

(8) Interprets DoD, National Security Agency, Air Force and other applicable intelligence policies, standards and guidelines to enhance mission effectiveness. Reports are compiled based on intelligence and operations situations pertinent to the groups and squadrons. Provides briefings and summaries to Joint and Coalition campaign planners to ensure plans account for most current adversary culture, demographics, geography, enemy capabilities, and national infrastructure.

(9) Advises commanders regarding the need for coordination of tasking and possible expansion of scope of effort. Recommends changes to the Rules of Engagement (ROE).

(10) Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Permanent positions require a 24-month trial period.
