Job Description
The selected applicant will provide configuration engineering and management of the Radio Integration System (RIS) for the Navy Special Operations command with minimal supervision and will lead teams in the field delivering and performing modifications to various fixed and mobile RIS communications platforms in use by the U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF). Will install, configure, service, repair, and provide technical assistance on all platforms and will provide both formal and informal training on all platforms. Will perform operational testing and evaluation (OT&E) of systems prior to deployment and compose and submit detailed written technical reports. Will perform failure analysis and provide written detailed recommendations for solutions.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $ 38.28/hr.
This position is located in San Diego. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to San Diego or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least six years related experience
Ability and willingness to facilitate both ad hoc and formal training events
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%, possibly more, to both CONUS and OCONUS locations
Ability to meet and maintain the certifications/qualifications for travel to Hazardous Duty locations
US military electronics training/experience
Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with RIS Family of Systems (FoS), Family of Special Operations Vehicles (FOSOV), Satellite Deployable Node (SDN), Tactical Local Area Network (TACLAN), and other Special Experience using communications-electronics test equipment
Operations Forces (SOF) communications packages
Operations / Maintenance experience with current generation US Special Operations Forces Tactical Radios (SATCOM, LOS, HF and SHF)
COMSEC equipment operations/maintenance
Formal Trainer/Instructor Certification
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
