Job Summary:
KBR is currently recruiting for an Associate Specialist, GS Security to join our team. This position performs a variety of security duties dealing with industrial, personnel, and information security. Requires the ability to prepare well-written products and strong communications skills, including public presentations, ability to interpret higher-level policy, orders and laws in order to meet the needs and requirement of NRL in the area of Information Security.

Basic Qualifications:
Education: A college or university degree.
Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
Clearance: None to start but candidate must have eligibility and be able to obtain and maintain requisite Top-Secret security clearance.
Work Location: Washington, DC
This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position.

Compensation:
$31.68 - $47.55 an hour. The salary range posted is for Maryland locations. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

This position performs a variety of security duties dealing with industrial, personnel, and information security. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Industrial security duties include clearance actions, contractor liaison, and classified contract review, preparation and coordination. Personnel security duties involve the verification of security clearances for contractor personnel and the certification of need to know for access to classified information. Information security duties include assisting with classification management with the control and maintenance of classified material records as required.
- Security related responsibilities may include enforcing and monitoring security procedures; ensures compliance with all aspects of government security policies and procedures related to: couriers, clearances, packages, documentation and debriefings.
- Develop and implement security procedures in coordination with management personnel.
- Assist with the review and catalog activities for technology area protection plans (TAPPs), S&T program protection plans (PPPs), and similar.
- Provide support to the NRL Technology Protection program as assigned, to include assistance with construction and revision of Security Classification Guides (SCG).
- Assist with disclosure polices, programs, and procedures to aid in NRL decisions to release or restrict release of classified military information (CMI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI) or equipment.
- May conduct security briefings and maintain security education programs. Investigates losses and security violations; may recommend corrective action.
- Provide support to the NRL Security Training program including but not limited to NATO, CNWDI, Derivative Classification, Classified Markings and annual security refresher training.
- Maintains liaison with outside agencies and keeps upper management informed of all security activities. Ensures destruction of classified PII and proprietary information in accordance with policies and procedures. Assists in revision of procedures manuals.
- Work performed in the area of security is performed in accordance to DSS (Defense Security Service), NSA (National Security Agency), and/or other applicable agencies which conduct regular security audits and/or investigations. Individuals are expected to remain current in their knowledge of security via online training/other means offered through DSS or other industry recognized educational services.
- No formal supervisory responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
