The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for an Information Technology Project Manager (NH-2210-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
Are you ready to be the strategic force behind the mission-critical digital infrastructure of a premier acquisitions base? The Base Communications Squadron is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the evolution of our NIPR and SIPR networks. You will be the central architect of the communication backbone that enables the nation's most advanced space acquisition missions, empowered to drive the entire lifecycle of our most critical infrastructure initiatives.

In this role, you will translate strategic objectives into concrete project plans, orchestrate the deployment of new technologies, and ensure the unwavering reliability and security of our networks. As a key technical advisor, you will consult with leadership and mission partners to shape the future of our technological landscape. The ideal candidate is a strategic and technically proficient leader with over seven years of experience managing complex IT projects within a Department of War environment, preferably with the Air Force or Space Force. This individual must possess proven experience with the lifecycle management of NIPRNet and SIPRNet infrastructure and a strong track record of translating complex requirements from diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership, into actionable project plans. The candidate will be adept at authoring and enforcing IT policies within a regulated government environment and familiar with DoD budgeting and contracting processes. A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is highly preferred, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desired, and meeting DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II requirements (e.g., Security+ CE) is mandatory.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts, methods, advancements, policies, design, development, testing and applications, both hardware and software sufficient to assess the organization's IT business requirements and convince management toward a specific course of action.
2. Knowledge of the organization's policy and planning form policy and planning formulation process along with its missions, goals, and objectives to prepare IT policies and plans.
3. Knowledge of acquisition requirements, budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements.
4. Knowledge of systems architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods sufficient to conduct feasibility studies.
5. Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost of analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments.
6. Ability to stay well informed on rapidly changing technology, to evaluate its possible impact on organization missions, and to develop plans to satisfy requirements.
7. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
