We have an opportunity for a Cloud Architect/Administrator - AWS GovCloud supporting Service delivery team in the Federal and or Commercial space.

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect/Administrator to support the migration of commercial cloud SaaS applications to the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, a strong understanding of federal compliance frameworks, and the ability to design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures within highly regulated environments.
Position Description:
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or an equivalent STEM l degree from an accredited college or university.

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect/Administrator to support the migration of commercial cloud SaaS applications to the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, a strong understanding of federal compliance frameworks, and the ability to design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures within highly regulated environments.
Position Description:
- Lead and execute migration efforts from commercial cloud environments to AWS GovCloud within the VAEC
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure that meets FedRAMP High baseline requirements and DISA STIG compliance
- Develop and document migration plans, architecture diagrams, and runbooks for cloud transitions
- Configure and harden AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and related GovCloud offerings
- Collaborate with application development teams to ensure SaaS workloads are optimized for the GovCloud environment
- Implement and maintain security controls, logging, and monitoring in accordance with VA and federal security requirements
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities by providing technical documentation and evidence for security assessments
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability and performance
- Participate in change management and configuration control processes
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or an equivalent STEM l degree from an accredited college or university.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, administration, or engineering
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, including demonstrated GovCloud experience
- Working knowledge of FedRAMP requirements and DISA STIG implementation
- One of the Following
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified Developer - Associate
- Experience migrating applications from commercial cloud or on-premises environments to government cloud platforms
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, security groups, NACLs, and VPC design
- Experience with identity and access management, including role-based access controls
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Direct experience with the VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Security Specialty)
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
- Experience supporting ATO processes and working with ISSOs/ISSMs
- Knowledge of VA Handbook 6500 and VA security requirements
