Position Title: Network Engineer

Location: Fairfield, PA

Position Summary

The Network Engineer provides senior-level engineering and technical leadership for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise and converged communications infrastructures using Juniper and Cisco technologies. This role leads the integration of complex network systems, conducts technical design reviews, and translates RRMC IT customer requirements into secure, compliant, and cost-effective solutions aligned with organizational goals and IT Master plan.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide network LAN/WAN design, implementation, consulting and leadership for data and converged communications infrastructure based largely on Juniper and Cisco equipment.

  • Perform design integration for complex, cross-functional systems and leads technical design reviews of various infrastructure projects and function as a high-level technical resource.

  • Collect, consolidate and analyze business and technical requirements from RRMC IT Customers. Recommend appropriate technological designs and solutions that align with the Organizational requirements, the IT Master Plan, and provides the most efficient and cost-effective solution.

  • Lead the delivery of the specific network solutions, including requirements analysis, internal proposal preparation, evaluation of supplier proposals, tool selection, and implementation planning.

  • Assist with the development of LAN/WAN architectures, perform network traffic analysis, predict LAN network bandwidth needs, and recommend modifications to the network configurations which reduces costs, maintains regulatory compliance and improves service.

  • Provide on-going training and technical direction to other team members pertaining to virtualization optimization, installation, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Support, participate in, and implement on-boarding new customers to the Joint Consolidated Server Room (JCSR).

  • Respond to incident and change request tickets to implement standard level changes and troubleshoots/ resolve incidents/problems.

  • Assist with the development/documentation of Techniques, Tactics & Procedures (TTPs) and Disaster Recovery plans.

  • Interface with industry and other Government agencies to develop best practices in network implementations and deployments.


Education, Certification & Experience Requirements

Education Required:

  • A bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science


Certification Required:

  • Security +

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA)

  • JNCIA-Junos (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate - Junos)


Experience Required:

  • Minimum of four years of general IT experience, of which three must be specialized in one or more of the following areas:

    • Network routing and switching hardware.

    • Network design, installation, and support.

  • Minimum of one year configuration experience with the following equipment:

    • Cisco series

    • Juniper


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of enterprise LAN/WAN and converged network design principles using Juniper and Csico technologies.

  • Knowledge of network integration for complex, cross-functional systems and infrastructure design review processes.

  • Knowledge of network operations, including traffic analysis, capacity planning, incident management, and disaster recovery planning.

Skills:

  • Skill in designing, implementing, and optimizing LAN/WAN architectures to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Skill in gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements and translating them into effective network solutions.

  • Skill in troubleshooting network incidents, executing change requests, and documenting TTPs and operational procedures.


Abilities:

  • Ability to serve as a senior technical resource and lead technical design reviews across multiple infrastructure projects.

  • Ability to mentor and provide technical direction and training to team members on network technologies and virtualization optimization.

  • Ability to collaborate with government stakeholders o develop and implement network best practices.


Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This position is performed in a professional environment, remote/home office setting, or on-site government facility, as required by the contract.

  • Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, during normally scheduled business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work required to meet critical deadlines.

  • Work involves extensive computer and secure network use, including periods of prolonged sitting, data entry, and screen time.

  • This role requires working independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating virtually or in person with CCS teams, subcontractors, and government stakeholders.

  • Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, training, or project-related activities.
