Data Systems Analysts, Inc. (DSA) is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared Storage Engineer to support the design, administration, and sustainment of enterprise storage solutions in a secure environment. The engineer will be responsible for managing NetApp ONTAP systems, integrating storage with SAN fabrics and VMware ESXi environments, and ensuring data availability, integrity, and performance across mission critical workloads.

The engineer will collaborate closely with systems, virtualization, and network teams to maintain and modernize storage infrastructure, implement backup and disaster recovery strategies, and optimize capacity and performance through analysis and automation. This position requires a blend of hands on expertise, and analytical troubleshooting.

This position is onsite in Charlottesville, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain NetApp ONTAP storage systems supporting mission and enterprise workloads.
  • Design, implement, and manage SAN/NAS environments, including Fibre Channel and iSCSI zoning, provisioning, and multipathing.
  • Integrate and optimize storage for VMware ESXi environments, including datastore provisioning and performance tuning.
  • Monitor and analyze storage performance, latency, and utilization to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Configure and manage replication, snapshot, and backup operations
  • Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, and lifecycle management for storage infrastructure.
  • Automate provisioning and reporting using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible to improve operational consistency.
  • Apply and maintain security baselines and STIG compliance for all storage systems.
  • Document architectures, configurations, and operational procedures to support sustainment and security audits.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex storage or virtualization issues in collaboration with other teams.

Required Education, Certifications and Security Clearance
  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
    • Experience may be substituted for degree.
  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • DoD 8140 (8570) IAT Level II Certification

Requirements Experience/Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in enterprise storage engineering or administration.
  • Hands on experience with NetApp ONTAP storage systems, including provisioning, clustering, and replication.
  • Strong understanding of SAN design and Fibre Channel/iSCSI connectivity.
  • Experience integrating storage with VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot performance, replication, and access issues across storage and virtualization layers.
  • Familiarity with NFS, CIFS/SMB, and iSCSI protocols and multipathing concepts.
  • Experience in capacity planning and storage optimization.
  • Scripting ability using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible for automation and reporting.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
  • NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) certification.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery tools (SnapCenter, Commvault, Veeam).
  • Familiarity with OnCommand System Manager, or equivalent monitoring platforms.
  • Exposure to hybrid or cloud connected NetApp environments (Cloud Volumes ONTAP, FSx for ONTAP).
  • Working knowledge of STIGs, RMF compliance, and DoD network security policies.
  • Prior experience supporting mission, intelligence, or secure enterprise environments.
