Elastic Engineer

The Elastic Engineer will join a team of Data Analytic Engineers focused on enhancing, maintaining, and sustaining an Elastic, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) instance. This role places a heavy emphasis on data onboarding, content development, configuration, troubleshooting, and visualizations. The ideal candidate possesses prior Elastic engineering and administration experience and thrives in a distributed team environment. This role is hybrid.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Engineering: Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest external datasets into Elastic products using Logstash and Beats.
- Platform Management: Design, build, deploy, and enhance the ELK platform (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), including full installation and configuration.
- API & Indexing: Utilize Elasticsearch Indices, Elasticsearch APIs, and Kibana Dashboards to manage and visualize data.
- Plug-in Development: Use or create custom plug-ins for ELK, specifically for authentication and authorization.
- Enterprise Integration: Integrate ELK with enterprise tools and APIs to streamline security and access workflows.
- Advanced Scripting: Design and implement complex development use cases using Python, Groovy, and Bash.
- System Monitoring: Utilize Elastic Search Cluster Monitoring Tools to ensure platform health and performance.
- Clearance: Active Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance and customer suitability.
- Software Development: 8+ years of directly relevant software development experience.
- Kubernetes Expertise: * At least 5 years of experience with Kubernetes architecture.
- At least 2 years of experience as an Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) admin or equivalent role.
- Elastic Search Proficiency: At least 2 years of experience with Elasticsearch Domain Specific Language (DSL).
- Technical Breadth: Strong knowledge of the ELK stack and proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, and Bash.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Environment: Experience working in an Agile environment and supporting federal customers.
- Cybersecurity: DoD 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT Level I (e.g., CISSP) is highly desired.
- Agile: Certification in Agile software development (e.g., Scrum Master).
- Specialized Certifications: * Elastic: Elastic Certified Engineer, Analyst, or Observability Engineer.
- Kubernetes: CKA, CKAD, CKS, KCNA, or KCSA.
