We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with cloud and platform engineering experience to join our high-performing Infrastructure team on a dynamic, mission-focused program. In this role, the Engineer will design, build, deploy, and sustain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based infrastructure and software platforms that support complex data processing and production software systems. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with AWS environments, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and cloud-native technologies in support of the mission.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure solutions in AWS environments.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and management of containerized applications using Kubernetes, EKS, Docker Swarm, or similar technologies.
  • Assist application teams with the creation, configuration, integration, and administration of Linux-based systems and platforms.
  • Manage day-to-day system operations, including monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of system and data pipeline issues and collaborate with internal and external teams to efficiently resolve issues.
  • Support system accreditation activities, including security configuration, system scanning, auditing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, analysts, and government stakeholders to design, implement, debug, monitor, and support complex data processing capabilities.
  • Work within Agile development environments to support continuous delivery, rapid iteration, and mission responsiveness.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency of mission systems.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including system documentation, processes, procedures, and training materials.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • Extensive experience developing and deploying cloud infrastructure in AWS environments
  • Strong experience with Linux systems administration (RHEL/CentOS), including installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying applications or services using cloud-native technologies and scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar
  • Experience with one or more scripting tools: Shell, Perl / CGI, Python, Ruby
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or equivalent
  • Experience securing cloud environments and supporting customer accreditation for highly sensitive systems
  • US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance


Desired Skills:
  • AWS Certification: Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies used with ETL and big data pipelines such as Glue, EMR, HIVE, Spark, S3, SQS, and SNS
  • Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes or EKS
  • Demonstrated experience using the AWS CDK
  • Prior experience with SQL querying relational databases, such as MySQL, and noSQL databases such as Elasticsearch
  • Prior experience setting up Docker clusters using Swarm and or Kubernetes
  • Prior experience with git for Infrastructure code management
  • Demonstrated hands on experience configuring cloud VPCs, subnets, route tables, and gateways
  • Experience working with cloud native technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), and/or Serverless cloud technologies
