KBR is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Assistant Maintenance Officer (AMO) in Patuxent River, MD, supporting HX-21 and the VH-92A Patriot. The Assistant Maintenance Officer position is located at the Presidential Helicopter Support Facility (PHSF) within Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ONE (HX-21) at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, Maryland. HX-21 supports research, development, test, and evaluation of rotorcraft and tilt-rotor craft by providing aircraft, test pilots and aircrew; technical expertise; maintenance services; configuration management, safety oversight; and facility support. Primary efforts include the conduct of flying qualities and performance, software, structural, propulsion, simulator, stores compatibility, and shipboard suitability testing. The squadron also provides government oversight, test monitoring, chase aircraft support, and facilities management for contractor demonstration, validation, and development work of rotor aircraft and associated systems. The PHSF supports the development of the VH-92A to provide the President of the United

States (POTUS) with reliable global vertical lift air transportation with high levels of security and communication capability. All aircraft maintenance in support of the VH-92A Fleet will be performed under an Integrated Maintenance Concept/Plan (IMC/P) at the Presidential Helicopter Support Facility (PHSF) at Patuxent River, MD. The incumbent of this position will serve as the Assistant VH-92 Maintenance Officer.

Our highly talented and experienced aircrew services team has provided over 40 continuous years of Aircrew project support at Patuxent River. As a long-term incumbent and leader in flight test, the selected applicant will work within the NAVAIR test community composed of government, military, contractor, and industry personnel while supporting flight test.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Supports the Maintenance Officer (MO) at Presidential Helicopter Support facility (PHSF), NAS Patuxent River, MD.
  • Support will include all aspects and analysis of aircraft maintenance to include planning, budgeting, oversight, and analytical evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the maintenance effort in support of program/project objectives.
  • Provides continuous interface with HX-21 leadership, Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL), PMA-274 Program Office, and logistics support leadership to monitor performance and conduct joint short, mid and long-term planning for the long-term sustainment of the VH-92A platform and related support personnel.
  • Support and provide management, business analyses, and technical leadership to assigned maintenance team.
  • Analyze and oversee activities of staff divisions (Quality Assurance, Logs and Records, Technical Library, Data Analysis), and overall department management.
  • Assists the MO with planning the aircraft operating and maintenance budget, determining resources and allocation of those resources to support program/project execution on cost and schedule, and planning and monitoring the technical and professional training of maintenance personnel.


Basic Qualifications
  • Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; Active Top Secret clearance with Yankee White access with the ability to maintain.
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: Minimum of twenty (20) years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Must be efficient in logistics concepts, organizational and intermediate level aircraft maintenance; quality assurance; and have comprehensive knowledge of the policies, processes, and procedures regarding the planning, funding, and execution of life cycle support of the rotary/tilt-rotor test aircraft assigned, including sponsor goals and milestones, fiscal constraints, resource limitations while tracking program/project status and schedules, and related experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting Executive Lift mission at HMX-1
  • Familiarity with DoD aviation development, production, sustainment, and/or testing
  • Previous experience in senior level aviation maintenance leadership roles
  • Previous maintenance experience supporting developmental or operational test and evaluation
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government, DoD, and/or USN correspondence development practices, along with the ability to write formal engineering reports and construct briefing materials using MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience with military aviation systems, either manned or unmanned.


Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Basic Compensation: $98,000-$133,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
