Description
SAIC is seeking a Space Technology Advisor with a strong background in Space Technology to support the Principal Director, Space Technology in the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) in the management and execution of the Department of War (DoW) Space Technology initiatives. The Space Technology Advisor's primary roles are to support Principle Director (PD), Space Technology research and development strategic planning activities to inform DoW investment decisions. The candidate will track, prioritize, and rapidly respond to ongoing actions to enable customer success in evaluating strategic and technological approaches and synchronizing DoW efforts. This position is onsite in Arlington, VA.
Job responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
• Support PD, Space Technology in project management and execution for Space Tech program elements
• Coordinate with other Technical Area Leads on technical and programmatic issues and opportunities
• Develop and/or provide input and recommendations to abstracts, briefs, information papers, and whitepapers
• Support Space Technology initiatives including development of strategy, issue papers, briefings, and funding options and alternatives for senior DoW Leadership
• Evaluate technical approaches and proposals for Space Technology projects
• Support Government oversight of prototyping facilities that demonstrate at-scale the system-level benefits of innovations in the Space Technology domain.
• Engage stakeholder community across Services, industry, and academia to identify technologies, applications and strategies that align with Space Technology operational and strategic objectives
• Support Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Request for Solutions (RFS) development, proposal evaluation, and award processes
• Review, identify gaps, and work with government and non-government standard development organizations to recommend updates to standards from a DoW perspective.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance
Degree(s) in an engineering discipline or related field. BS and 14 years of experience; Master's and 12 years of experience; PhD and 9 years of experience
• Experience with technology development and hardware prototyping Experience in preparing, coordinating, and presenting briefings
• Demonstrated knowledge of the DoW organizational structure and budgeting process, OSW inter-office coordination, and communication protocols
• Experience with Advanced Propulsion or Satellite Communications
• Experience with Space Technology capabilities and trends
• Experience in planning and coordination of technical reviews, panels, or similar meetings with diverse participants
